| A
first time buyer can be almost anybody.
Perhaps a young single person, perhaps a new couple expecting a
family, or even someone who has had to wait until midlife to
finally purchase a home of their own. Regardless, the first
time buyer has a dream.
How
do I make this dream a reality?
It is wise to list out logical steps. Because you already
have a dream, you probably already have a mental image of your new
home. If not, you need to sit down, alone or together with
your partner, and list those qualities which should make up the
ideal starter home.
How
much can I afford?
Nothing can place more stress on a life or on a relationship than
a mortgage that is simply "too tight". Finding the
right fit for a mortgage is best done with the help of a mortgage
specialist. Most banks and lending institutions have on
staff, such a person, trained to help you decide just how much you
can afford. If you call or e-mail
me, I can make a few recommendations for you in this
regard.
But
I don't think I can afford anything just now!
No Problem. Everybody has to start somewhere and once again,
this is where a good mortgage specialist is trained to help you
establish a workable financial plan to reach your goal and make
your dream a reality.
Will
I have to compromise?
Many times, our first home falls short of "the dream".
That's OK. The important thing is to start. Maybe your
first home will be a bit smaller than you really wanted or may not
have all those features you dreamed about. Have you
considered a "fixer-upper"? If you are a handy
person, this may be one option.
A
wise person once said,
"without a dream, there is no need to work, and without work,
there is no need to dream". Why not get started?
